Grazing Hills Alpaca Ranch

Grazing Hills Alpacas is a family owned and operated Ranch in Viola, Idaho, that began the alpaca adventure in 1993.

The DeWinkles are now the 3rd generation to own the Ranch and over the past few years have expanded into sheep, llamas, a few milk goats, six daughters’ 4H projects of pigs and cows, as well as chickens and ducks. They specialize in breeding and raising alpacas, and love to help mentor others as they start their own alpaca herd.

Just 15 minutes north of Moscow, Grazing Hills Alpacas sit up on top of the rolling hills of the Palouse on over 30 acres. It’s a family-friendly experience and a wonderful introduction into farm life, with a little bit of everything!

The Ranch also offers a cozy B&B stay in the barn. You can book the B&B through http://www.airbnb.com/h/grazinghillsranch or by visiting their Ranch website. Their online store offers a variety of our yarn, clothing, and other assorted alpaca goods. Have your orders shipped to you, pick up at the ranch, or home delivery available.

Hearthstone Elegant Lodge

Hearthstone Lodge is a boutique hotel that has 23 artistic and individually unique guest rooms with all of the amenities of world class lodging. Each room includes a jacuzzi, with the exception of two suites in the chalet, which is a hand-hewn log building. The Inn is nestled in the pines on 65 wooded acres along the Clearwater River just outside the historic town of Kamiah, Idaho. This is the place that Lewis and Clark called “Paradise Valley” in their journals because the landscape and wildlife in the area was stunning. Guests of the Lodge enjoy outstanding views of the river, forest and mountains, all of which is largely the same as it was when Lewis and Clark stopped to enjoy the hospitality of the Nimiipuu (Nez Perce people) in 1805 and 1806. The lodge is frequently booked for local, national and international anniversaries, honeymoons, getaways, business meetings and more. Guests enjoy breakfast at the owners Hearthstone Bakery Restaurant, located in a beautifully renovated historic building in town.

Peterson Barn Guesthouse

This timber frame guesthouse built by hand offers the character of a mountain hideaway right in Moscow. Enjoy handcrafted hospitality and comforts of home by the night, week or month. The guesthouse includes a 2-bed sleeping loft, kitchen, living room, bathroom and fireplace. On the Latah Trail, you are a bike ride away from just about everything.

In the tradition of English cruck frames, the Peterson Barn was built by hand in 1997 from curved timbers. We felled the trees, cut the joinery by hand, and did a barn raising with about a hundred of our closest friends. Many of the timbers are rescued urban hardwoods and each has a story.
