“The Vote: 100 Years,” an acrylic collage exhibit by Colfax artist Nancy Rothwell, is now showing at the Libey Gallery at Colfax Library. In these new works, Rothwell reviews the influence of the 19th Amendment which granted women the right to vote when it was ratified in 1920.

Rothwell’s show reflects on the social and political events of 100 years ago in the United States, and reminds us of the courage it took for women to stand up for their belief that all women should be given the right to vote.  In this exhibit, she uses visual symbols such as roadmaps and house keys to comment on the long, difficult struggle that women faced and the bravery they showed during years of agitation and protest.

Rothwell’s show runs through January 2021. Libey Gallery at Colfax Library is located at 102 S. Main Street. Hours are Mondays – Wednesdays 10-5, Thursdays – Fridays 10-6, and Saturdays 1-5.  For more information visit www.whitco.lib.wa.us or call 509-397-4366.
