FROM PRESS RELEASE
May 10, 2022 (Moscow, Idaho) — Do you have a Heritage Tree? Have you seen a Heritage Tree around town or in your neighborhood? The Moscow Tree Commission has recently launched a new Heritage Tree Program.
What is a Heritage Tree? A Heritage Tree is one that is notable for its large size, age, health or form, or is uncommon in Moscow. It may also be a tree with an interesting story or connection to Moscow’s history.
To be eligible, trees must be sufficiently visible from the public right of way. For inclusion in the Moscow Heritage Tree Program, please submit a Moscow Heritage Tree Program Nomination Form along with the Moscow Heritage Tree Program Property Owner Agreement Form to the City of Moscow Community Forestry Administrator at tree@ci.moscow.id.us or mail to City of Moscow, Attn: Community Forestry Administrator, PO Box 9203 Moscow, ID 83843. Both forms and additional information can be found at: http://bit.ly/3EJBegy
If approved, the Heritage Tree will be featured in the Moscow Heritage Tree Program Guide and include a map of the tree location, a photograph of the tree, and a description describing why it is a Moscow Heritage Tree. The tree will be listed in an online version of the Moscow Heritage Tree Program Guide.
For questions about the Moscow Heritage Tree Program, please contact David Schott, Parks and Facilities Manager, with the City of Moscow at dschott@ci.moscow.id.us or (208) 883-7098.
