Ed Corkill Memorial Trail

Ed Corkill Memorial Trail is a 10.6 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Juliaetta, Idaho that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and road biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Elk Creek Falls & Giant Cedar Grove

If you are heading to Deary and the Pie Safe Bakery late spring to fall, keep going to Elk River and hike to free-falling Elk Creek Falls, cascading 300 feet to the creek and on to Dworshak Reservoir. Then north of Elk River is the Giant Cedar Grove Trail. A paved interpretive trail takes you to a 3,000 year old Western Red Cedar, the largest tree in North America east of the Cascade-Sierra Crest.    Find details and directions at fs.usda.gov

Elk River Backcountry Byway

This is a low-key, off-the-beaten path adventure, stretching 57 miles along back roads replete with forests, wildlife and access to backcountry adventure. The byway connects Orofino to Boville via Elk River. It’s mostly gravel from Elk River to Orofino. From Orofino: Wells Bench road from Idaho 7, cross the North Fork of the Clearwater at Dent Bridge, then to Elk River where it joins Idaho 8 to Bovill.
